Several parts of Europe have suffered deadly situations such as; There is a danger of flooding in the coming few days in central Europe due to the recent rainfall and there is a blazing wildfire in Portugal.
Seven people have now been killed in fires in Portugal since Sunday, including three firefighters whose car caught fire today. The floods in the region have claimed the lives of at least 17 people which authorities regard to be the worst floods to have affected central and eastern Europe in recent past.
Living in the center of the city, residents of Nysa in Poland were finally evacuated by their mayor for 44000 due to increasing water level in its river which threatened to produce more floods in its Neighborhood areas.
The locals of Nysa including Grochowski from Grzegorz were involved in transferring sand bags from vehicles to the river banks and this went on to as early as Tuesday morning when the river threatened to break bank.
“There was a human chain here, people were passing on sandbags to each other,” Grochowski told Reuters on Tuesday. “The helicopter was also bringing sand in large sacks and they were throwing it down to reinforce the wall well into the night, until about 4 or 5 in the morning. ”
Pregnant women, and other patients were moved out of the city’s hospital as flood levels rise and the hospital was flooded before anybody from the city of Nysa was advised to evacuate. Only rescuers and those working to stop the flow of water from the river is left behind.
The rainfall is expected to ease from Tuesday though the authorities are anticipating water in some rivers to continue flooding low altitude urban areas.
There have been heavy downpours moving towards the northern and the eastern parts of Italy, with an orange rainfall warning on Tuesday.
In the Polish town of Ladek Zdrój near the Czech border several helicopter evacuations have been performed by the emergency services, as citizens found themselves isolated in their homes.
There, the flood has only started to decline after several days of flooding that washed away several rural base villages. Now people of the town of Jesenik which is rather known for its healing spas are struggling with floods and tens of muddy waters.
